The Rinjani Trek
was lauded in the award citation as .a place
doing superb work in protecting its overall
natural and cultural heritage, the volcanic
heart of the island of Lombok, Indonesia..
Visitors to this tropical island enjoy long
jungle treks to the awe-inspiring crater
valley, waterfalls and hot springs, and
emerge from the forest canopy to enjoy an
amazing panoramic ocean view.

Mount Rinjani is located in the North Island of Lombok with the elevation 3,726 m above sea level, no. 2 the highest in Indonesia. For the Hindu community they believe it as peak in the sanctuary, a place of the Gods. To climb Mt Rinjani can be an unforgettable experience.
At the height of 2,000 m above sea level, there is caldera which formed the lake Segara Anak. In the middle there are small cone shaped Mt Barujari that still active, this place is also a source of hot springs that are used for treatment, while Lake Segara Anak can be used as a fishing place. Mt Rinjani’s summit can be reached via two routes, from Senaru Lombok Sembalun West and East Lombok. There are beautiful places to camp on the shores of Lake Segara Anak.

Ecotourism Programme has been developed
since 1999 with assistance from New
Zealand.s International Aid and Development
Agency (NZAID). To strengthen conservation
and ensure that communities on the boundary
of the National Park benefit from tourism
revenues, community-run co-operatives
coordinate the Trek at the Rinjani Trek
Centre in Senaru and the Rinjani Information
Centre in Sembalun Lawang.
